Surrounding Area

Matalascañas

In the surrounding area you will find flamingos, spoonbills and herons, while birdies, eagles and albatrosses aren't far away either... Many species can be found in this natural setting. We recommend you explore the wonderful Doñana National Park and its valuable natural resources. Immerse yourself in a sea of dunes and traverse marshlands bustling with life.

Another interesting option is a visit to the cattle ranches of Toros de Lidia. Observe the animals grazing and running around beautiful meadows in Huelva.

El Rocío
El Rocío is a wonderful village nestled in the Almonte area at the entrance to Doñana National Park. Its main attraction is its pilgrimage, which is a mixture of popular celebration and religious procession in honour of the Virgin of El Rocío.

We recommend participating in one of the most famous pilgrimages around, which involves over a hundred brotherhoods and gathers thousands of people heading for the shrine here.

Gastronomy
Huelva's cuisine is fantastic and renowned throughout the country. The most famous of its products is Huelva ham but the coastline is also known for its seafood dishes, including clams with rice and tuna with tomato.

Many towns in the province serve traditional, regional dishes. In Aracena, gastronomy is focused on Iberian ham products. We recommend you pay a visit to the Ham Museum and find out more about this delicacy.

Culture
This Andalusian settlement with extensive mining traditions is found at the mouth of the Odiel River. Huelva is the westernmost province capital in Andalusia, and it was also witness to one of the most important events in our history: the discovery of America.

One of the city's most symbolic buildings is the cathedral, which was restored in the 18th century. If you would like to enjoy panoramic views of the city, head to El Conquero Viewpoint. This wonderful city offers a range of tourism options. You can sunbathe on some of the best beaches on Andalusia's coast (such as Punta Umbría or Isla Cristina), or visit Doñana National Park (highly recommended for fans of nature).
